In 1861, the United States federal government approved the Morrill Act which set aside land in each state for the founding of public higher education. Wilfred A. Osgood graduated from the New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts in 1914. He remained an active alumni of both the school and his fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha.
